Empowering CS Instructors
Helping leaders teach the next generation of coders.
What is CS Outreach?
The CS Outreach Initiative is an unincorporated non-profit organization designed to assist teachers and community members in the creation of coding workshops & classes. Our network provides the foundation to help people start their own coding workshops, or assist teachers in the development of their classroom materials.
This service is provided for free.
A three step approach to help you succeed.
Step 1: Consultation
The CS Outreach program begins with a 1 hour consulting session to understand your goals and how we can help you. Our members are experts in creating coding workshops and have over 5 years in teaching experience. After our initial session, we provide monthly checkups to help pinpoint key areas to help you succeed.
Step 2: Curriculum
The CS Outreach program contains a variety of pre-made curriculum designed to teach introductory K-12 coding principles. We help to tailor-make your curriculum to fit your needs and standards. All of our curriculum contains lecture material, labs to help with application, and worksheets to establish comprehension of key concepts.
We provide curriculum for all levels of coding in the K-12 education context, in addition to several units in moving code towards the real world.
Step 3: Assessments
For teachers, we provide secured free-response examinations to help ensure the comprehension of students. These assessments are designed to test how students apply their knowledge, essential for using code in the future.
Our goal is simple: Help Everyone Learn Code.
By joining us, you are helping to fulfill this mission on a local level, ultimately expanding the reach of our network. Every partner counts, and by partnering with us we are one step closer to egalitarian access to quality CS instruction. We hope that by providing this service for free, everyone can teach how to code.
